This one is pretty funky!  It's the first wine we made - prompted by a lost bin in the vineyard, foot stomped by our friends June & Craig for old world character.  When first opened there's a reductive quality, allow it to sit and you're treated to a beautiful aged Chardonnay.

 

VARIETY: 

100% Old Vine Chardonnay, located on a very warm site.

 

TERROIR:

History Rich site… Located on Anarchist Mountain in Osoyoos at an altitude of  1700 ft.  

 Vines Planted in 1985 by pioneers in the wine growing region. 

 Clone:  It’s a mystery

Rootstock:  Mystery / Own

 Acres: 3

 Altitude; 1700 ft with lots of evening sun.

 Aspect: West.

 

VINTAGE:

Picking DateOctober 9, 2011

 

Growing Conditions: A difficult cool growing season but rescued by a  warm Fall.

 

Vineyard Operations:  Vines produced only 2 tons/acre and did not need bunch thinning.  Early shoot thinning and tucking.  Hedging.  No leaf removal.  Lots of attention to detail.

 

VINIFICATION

 

100 % Whole bunch pressed.

100% French oak

33%  new oak

10 months in barrel

Mixture of 3 different yeasts
